Ingenuity unveiled the schedule of events for this year’s festival
held September 24 - 26 on the subway level of the Veterans Memorial (Detroit Superior) Bridge. The festival runs Friday from 4:30 until 1 AM, Saturday from Noon until 1 AM, and Sunday from Noon until 5 PM. The 2010 festival is completely free and open to the public.
This year’s festival will open on Friday, September 24 with the Wild Music Marching Band starting at Star
Plaza and winding through the streets of downtown, ending at the bridge with a bombastic Asian
percussion performance by Icho Daiko at approximately 4:30 PM.

Ingenuity 2010 shows a diverse range of music, dance, theater, and other performances as well as a number of ongoing art and technology installations. Ingenuity continues its exploration of the nexus between art and technology including a Digital Graffiti Wall, a ten foot wall of water that produces images provided by visitors and can be travelled through by swing, and a concert/lecture from Dr. Kamal Chemali of the Cleveland Clinic and pianist Benoit which explores music’s affect on the brain. The bridge will also be transformed by artists like Kasumi who will be creating a video archway inside the bridge,and The Amazing Solar Fire Lightshow which transformed the space during Ingenuity’s Speakeasy 2.0 earlier this year.

The festival will also include musical performances by Angelin Chang, electric violinist Dixon, and Opera Circle. Theatrical premieres from include TS 213’s Sisyphus, Theater Ninja’s Absence and performances by The Dramatic Arts Movement Ensemble (DAME).
Dance artists such as Lisa Locke, MorrisonDance,Verb Ballets, and Dancing Wheels will also explore the bridge space through movement and technology throughout the bridge span.

A eclectic mix of other artists, installations, and exhibitions will also be featured on both sides of the bridge and over the river. The festival will also bring back its Family Village featuring interactive art,technology, and music for children from toddlers to teens. A wide range of food and art vendors will also be present on the bridge for the festival.

This year’s festival will also feature Ingenuity Nights with performances from world-class bands, DJs and other musicians that will fill both the East and West sides of the bridges with music and dancing.
Performances by Turntables on the Hudson (Live), Wonder Mike and Master Gee formerly of the Sugarhill Gang with HenDogg & DJ Robb the Noize, Cubic Zirconia, and Boatzz. Bringing nighttime crowds artists installations, the interior caverns of the bridge, special lighting, plus fantastic views of Downtown Ingenuity Nights is slated to be the talked about weekend event this Fall.

This year’s festival is free and open to the public. All events will take place on the subway level of the Detroit Superior Bridge and in the unused subway stations on the East and West Side. This is a completely indoor space protected from the weather.

Parking for the festival is available on both the East and West side of the Bridge. Street and lot parking in the Warehouse District, particularly on West 9th is easily walkable to the East Side Festival Entrance. On the West Side of the Bridge, lot and street parking near the intersection of West 25 and Detroit will also
be available.
